About

Our Story

Justin and Lacie both grew up in Greene County, Iowa. Justin was from the west side and Lacie from the east. Although in different school districts, they grew up knowing one another from 4H and the local skating rink. It wasn’t until their early 20’s that they dated and started their life journeys together and had two busy boys; McKinley and Grant.

Justin is a fourth generation farmer and grew up on a diversified farm with hogs, cattle, hay, soybeans, and corn. Lacie grew up on a cow/calf operation raising cattle and hay with both parents also working off farm jobs as well, so when it comes to understanding what work schedules are like, they truly understand. While growing up and watching their parents fight through the 80’s to stay in agriculture, it instilled a solid foundation in them to do everything to the best of their abilities and start each day with purpose.

While some people are certified in this or that, and Justin and Lacie have a couple of those “pieces of paper,” they don’t think a certificate defines you; it’s your actions that do. Their reputation for quality care of their land and livestock is what makes them excel with their beef business. Justin and Lacie firmly believe it is their job to leave the land better than how they found it. They believe they are blessed with the opportunity to farm and take responsibility to do their part to help feed the world while maintaining profitability on their family farm.

Today Lacie, Justin, and their eldest son McKinley, have a beautiful herd of Angus cows, raise corn, soybeans, and hay, and use rye/oats as cover crops to improve water quality and soil health. Everyday they view life as a gift as they love God, family, farming, and of course wrestling!

Now let’s meet some of the other members of this family farm. It takes many hands to make the farm what it is. Justin and Lacie cannot do everything on their own, so their son McKinley, nephews Bryce, Brandon, and Kaleb, Justin’s dad Tim (generation 3), and mentor/partner (until he retired) Doug Hawn, all help with spring/fall work. McKinley and the 3 nephews help whenever they can with fence and daily work, but make it a priority to be at the farm during fall harvest and help do chores and calve cows. Justin and Lacie rely heavily on their nephews during wrestling season for this.
